Have a great weekend!

The Skirt Challenge and a Sale!!

If you search skirt challenge or dressember, you will see that it is a change for women for dress up so to speak up, to bring awareness to domestic abuse, encouraging girls and woman to be proud to be female,  to show that one can be modest, stylish, feminine, and comfortable.
By wearing a skirt or dress you can embrace being a woman/girl.  There is no set date or time to start but here in the Pacific Northwest we start on Mother's day, and finish on father's day, the reason why is because it's spring, the weather isn't too hot, or cool,  or wet, it's a great transition time for layers and dressing up a little!
So from Mother's day to Father's day I will wear skirts or dresses, to support and enjoy being a beautiful, modest feminine woman! I will wear pants when I work out and while working at the horse ranch, but I have plenty of options and to be honest I could probably wear a different piece everyday! The joys of being a tailor/seamstress, never a shortage of clothing!

Who else wants to participate? Since it's a month away, I'm having a special on any dress or skirt custom made or altered from now until Father's Day, will be 20% off!
That does not include Formals or wedding dresses!

Post your pics and share your style and thoughts on the whole experience!

Skirt Challenge Wrap Up...The End

This is the wrap up of the Skirt Challenge. It was a really fun experience, there were a few days it was cold and I didn't want to wear a skirt or dress, but add some leggings or knee high socks and I was fine.

Skirt Challenge update

Here is the summary from the last week of days 16 to day 22!

Miss E is wearing a linen skirt I made her in February for this summer, My skirt is from J. Crew.

Warm summer like day, I made all three of our skirts here.

Off to a meeting,

Warm day of shopping, I made all of our skirts. My skirt is a wrap from a silky graphic print. I love this skirt!

Also taken that day, I was picking things from our garden for dinner and planting more potatoes.

I'm wearing a dress I originally made for a wedding that fell through, (I didn't ask for all the details) but I got to keep the dress! I will post about that soon, since it's wedding season. Miss J is wearing a jumper I made for Miss E two years ago. Miss E wearing a tee-shirt dress with a warm, and soft, stripe sweater from Forever 21.

This was taken today, Miss E and I after yoga and before running errands.

The Skirt Challenge

With just weeks away till Mother's Day, I'm gearing up for the Skirt Challenge.

I will post as it gets closer. Who else is doing this? I would love to see what your wearing, and share this info with others, lets start a revolution!!

Girls and Sequins

My girls are my totally awesome photographers, so of course I have to take a few of them too!
They wanted to show off their outfits from last Sunday. Both dresses I re-sized.

I bought this blush/nude sequin stretch fabric at JoAnn's and thought well hey I need this for a skirt! Because who doesn't want a sequin nude-ish skirt?

The cobalt cardigan is from Gap and the cream blouse I bought at a thrift store and re-sized and restyled.

I left the hem cut and unfinished. I like the flat edge and the hem is angled, longer in the back by almost 3".

I used the salvage along the ends to make the waist band.

I wanted the skirt to not feel tight, and more A-line. I added a triangle panel in the back and it fit perfectly!
