Girls dresses and jumers for fall/ Winter

I've been busy the last few weeks. Here are few projects I've been working on the last few months.

This jumper is a heavier stretch cotton blend and the dropped waist is so flattering on girls!

This is one of my Favorites this year! I found the blue/brown/green paisley at the Sewing Expo and knew it would be so perfect for a fall dress. I love making skirts with tiers, the different layers of fabric because they can be lengthened or shortened and it still looks cute!
With all the different colors in this, there are many options for shirts!

This is a huge seller for me. I buy this fabric by the bolt because I make and sell so many of these! This long maxi jumper is cute, and so versatile!

Again, I used a coordinating fabric for the neckline, the ruffle hem and tie.

The story behind this dress is that I made this for myself 15 years ago! I love the peacock blue fabric, its 100% cotton and is super soft. When I was looking for a new use for this dress, and saw the extra scraps I had

I love how cute the coordinating straps and waistband came out!

This dress has cotton, flannel and corduroy! And such fun colors for fall! I did smocking in the back to add some detail and gathers.

Purple is a fav color for girls and I'm seeing it everywhere!  So this dress was right on trend, I actually came across this fabric at a home decor store, it was curtains! but screamed dress to me. So another maxi skirt, and this one I kept the skirt 4" longer that are hemmed under so as this girl grows she can have the hem let out and it will fit her for a longer period of time. I have alot of moms who love this idea!

Another mixed fabric dress, the photo to the right shows the color better. But a fun and easy dress to wear and the print and solid mixing is so fun!

Special Occassion dresses for girls

Special Occassion Dresses for little girls
I have been super busy with Easter dresses, prom dresses and the usual mending and altering! But I wanted to show off a few new dresses!

Both of these photos I took at Target and Old Navy respectfully, I wanted to get ideas for trends and color schemes.

This is a Easter dress for a girl who wanted to "look more grown up and not just a kid" There are rosettes in two different fabrics that are hand sewn along the shoulder and side-bodice.

I loved how great it came out,

Summer dress with contrast trim. I love this pattern! It always comes out so nice and I'm able to make it "growable" everytime! Which means I can cut this out at least one size bigger and take it in with stratigic seams, that can be let out as the child grows.

This jumper was so fun to design, I thought a dropped waist would be a fun change and the fabrics all worked out so well together.

 Front and back of jumper.

Another summer dress. This style is cute and fun to wear and the sleeves and details are all different florals that work so well!

Front and back.

April Showers...and spring flowers!

There are signs of spring all around! And I'm so excited to finally be able to wear all the fun dresses and outfits I've been working on the last few months for myself, my family and others!

~I made this dress to be "growable" I loved the idea of making something that could still be worn for for years, and since kids grow like weeds I do this with a lot of clothes from them, and what "growable" is, is that I cut the pieces a size larger and after it is all sewn I take in at the shoulders and waist that can later be un stitched so it can be worn more than one year.

I loved the fabrics for this one, with the collar and tie at the waist in cordinating print, it is so cute! And the colors suit E so well.

I saw this fabric and knew it was for J! She has been asking for a dress with a bubble skirt so I had to make this the one with it.

I made this one, because I loved the pattern and wanted to make this in flannel, I had this beautiful print that needed to be used for something girly, and it worked out perfectly!

I saw this fabric and fell in love! It's such a fun color and knew it needed to have other bright colors added to it. And the maxi length is so right on trend right now!

Jumpers, Part 2

There always seem to be more reasons why jumpers are so cute! I found the print for this jumper and fell in love! I made this for my daughter in April so she could wear it this fall and winter. Ironically The Children's Place is going through the same color palette so we're right on trend, yeah! The solid fabric is actually a knit, and the print is a flannel, and they work perfectly together. I wanted to upper bodice to have some stretch and I already had the knit, and they looked great together, so a match was made!
I lined the bodice and just used two white snaps for the closure, I try and make sure all children's clothing are easy to put on and take off.

I wanted this to be long enough that it would fit her at least two years. So I made the skirt tiered so it had some detail, and the pockets were an after thought, since my daughter loves pockets!

I had this fabric for years before I could decide what to do with it. It's a light turquoise with brown, rose, and green floral print. And my youngest needed a jumper that had multiple colors to work with her wardrobe, and this worked well. It is a lightweight corduroy, of which is a great fall/winter fabric. The front pocket are a must for my little girl. She loves to store whatever she has in her pocket! It's a bib style top and snap closure again, this is such an easy way for kids clothes! I finished it with a Burgundy bias trim.
