Dress Makeover

I'm super excited about this dress. Remember this was the winter white dress I bought at Goodwill for $1.96! The style was nothing great, heck it was a size 24!

After deconstructing most of the dress, resizing it and making some major adjustments, such as bust placement, waistline, and hem length it looks like a completely different dress. I love how well it fits now. I wish I took photos of the process but this was almost a 2 month project in between everything else that was priority.

What to you think?
I'm now on the hunt for more dresses to make over! I'm so in love with this style and the fabric is amazing, I can see this dress becoming a staple that I can wear all year round!

Day 7 Skirt Challenge

If you haven't noticed yesterday was skipped. Full disclaimer, on Fridays I work at a horse ranch, and it's not a place for the challenge!
So back to the skirts... Today is the prefect maxi skirt day, it's cool, but not raining, I'm helping with a wedding this afternoon so comfort is key. This skirt was a dress that I bought for $9.97 at Nordstrom Rack, made it into a skirt and get my money's worth! I love the colors, and I feel very curvy with the stripes cut at a diagonal. Add with a long sleeve t-shirt and I'm done.

Day 3 Skirt Challenge

Another cold, rainy day. But after yoga and doing farm chores, I'm back into my skirt. It's a raspberry knit Jersey, midcalf skirt. I love this fabric!! It's like wearing jammies.
Soft, stretchy and the color is a fave of mine. It was a big weird fitting dress that I bought at a yard sale last fall, and I knew this was a winner in the making. I'm a total t shirt and jeans girl, but this skirt is definitely going to be a great option!

Homecoming 2013

This year wasn't as crazy as I was expecting, but I had several girls want their dresses to either have straps or sleeves. There are lots of beautiful dresses out there, but a huge lack of modest, easy to wear dresses!
Before it was a lovely strapless dress,
After, on the right, both dresses had wide straps added and just helped each dress have a bit more style!

This is the inspiration dress, That was wanted.

And this is the final dress. What was once a boring strapless dress that was also a bit too short, was now a fun, flirty dress. I added a sheer bodice and sleeves, and almost 4" of tulle to the skirt. and a hot pink Satin belt. LOVE how cute is came out!!

This dress was again, a beautiful strapless dress. By just adding wide straps/cap sleeves, it looks cute, modest and She didn't have to worry about it slipping down.

Fall Fabulous.

With fall in the air and leaves falling from the trees, I'm in full seasonal transition!  I'm a very visual person and I love look boards, pinterest was invented for me I swear! Here is my look board for this fall season, now this isn't what I think everyone should be wearing or styling as! But for me and my taste, body type, and style, this is what I'm drawn to this season.
Take a peek, see anything you like? I hope you can all get some ideas and maybe create your own look this fall. Look through your closet and see what you already have, what you need, and what you want! I'm always drawn to boots, jeans and scarves, so those I have, but a nice denim button-up blouse, and maybe a fun, fitted blazer/jacket and some midi-length skirts could be added.....
